The photograph of a cottonwood tree in Colfax, captured in false color infrared, presents a vivid and surreal interpretation of this natural scene. The cottonwood's large, sweeping branches and textured bark are enhanced by the infrared filter, but it’s the foliage that truly transforms the landscape. The tree’s normally green leaves appear in vibrant shades of blue, creating a striking contrast against the sky and the surrounding environment. The sky above is painted in a dramatic blend of orange, yellow, and black, giving the scene an intense, almost apocalyptic feel, with the warm, fiery tones clashing against the cool blues of the foliage.
