Decided to head to Gasworks Park to practice with my crystal ball.I have been having trouble photographing the ball as it is hard to focus. If I use the autofocus, the camera tries to focus on the ball and not in the ball where the subject it located. This requires all manual focus to solve the problem. In the early morning, a lot of rowers were out on Lake Union and I was able to capture their lights in the and around the ball which made for some interesting effects.
While at Gasworks, the sunrise colors started coming through so I decide to focus on the color and not the ball. The sky was amazing and only lasted 5 minutes but I was able to capture it. My composition was not all that great but it was more about the color since my goal was to practice with the crystal ball. You can see in the photo above what the color looked like. The only thing in photoshop I did was lighten the shadows and darken the highlights. Not very often are we able to capture the light like this. Too bad I didn't have a better location. Either way, it was a morning of shooting and learned a lot. The video shows my morning and what I was doing.
